Police on Thursday arrested 14
suspected members of a criminal organisation involved in the rag
trade run by two alleged leaders of the southern Campania
region's Camorra mafia.
The suspects were arrested on charges of criminal
association for special waste trafficking in connection with the
sale of used clothes, textiles and accessories in Europe and
Africa.
Investigators suspect the organisation was run by Pietro
Cozzolino, head of the Camorra clan of the same name operating
in the Naples suburbs of Herculaneum and Portici, and his
brother Aniello.
Police also made searches and seizures in and around Rome,
the Campania capital Naples and Salerno and in other regions as
part of the operation.
