The condition of the Italian
doctor who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone has improved
further, Rome's Spallanzani Institute for infectious diseases
said on Thursday.
The 50-year-old who was working for the medical aid charity
Emergency in the West African nation does not have a fever, is
breathing spontaneously and does not need ventilator support,
the hospital said.
He is also interacting positively with medical staff and
answering questions, doctors added.
On Wednesday the hospital announced that the doctor could
breathe autonomously but stressed that it was not possible to
say whether he was out of danger.
