Mob boss Giuseppe
Iacobazzi's wife and sister were arrested on Friday, accused of
trying to extort 2,500 euros from the daughter of Iacobazzi's
cellmate in the Trani prison where the boss from the town of San
Severo, near Bari, is currently being held.
The daughter of the 60-year-old cellmate reported the
alleged extortion attempt to police, who arrested Iacobazzi's
wife Daniela Seccia, 33, and Iacobazzi's sister, Natalina
Iacobazzi, 31, at the meeting point that had been arranged for
the money handover.
Investigators said Iacobazzi's cellmate was threatened with
death if his daughter didn't pay.
Both of the arrested women have prior criminal records.
