Broadcaster Mediaset confirmed
it had terminated its collaboration with anchorman Emilio Fede
at the end of October, a spokesperson from the media group
belonging to Silvio Berlusconi told ANSA Wednesday.
"The Board of Directors deliberated the termination of
Emilio Fede's collaboration as of October 31" the spokesperson
said.
The 83-year-old journalist first reacted to the news
published by newspaper La Stampa Wednesday morning saying he had
not received any dismissal letter yet.
Milan prosecutors are investigating Fede on suspicion of
criminal association and slander.
The probe kicked off three months ago and involves the
alleged use of doctored pornographic photos to spark "a
red-light scandal" to the detriment of several Mediaset
employees.
Fede was also convicted last year for procuring girls and
organizing bunga bunga parties at the ex-premier's Arcore
residence.
He is out of jail pending appeal.
