Police on Tuesday arrested
eight people in Palermo as part of an anti-drug operation in
which two quintals of narcotics were also seized.
The suspects - arrested on charges of trafficking and
selling cocaine, heroine and cannabis - include several people
thought to be linked to the Sicilian mafia organisation Cosa
Nostra.
The sweep was the result of an investigation that began 18
months ago with the surveillance of young drug dealers operating
in the Sicilian capital.
