A 19-year-old woman fell to her
death from the roof of a convent at Rome's famed Spanish Steps
Friday.
The Pole, who had been a guest at the convent for two days,
fell off the top of the motherhouse of the Congregazione della
Resurrezione nuns in via di San Sebastianello.
Police investigations have confirmed that the woman and her
cousin, 22, had returned at dawn from a night of drinking in the
historic centre, and continued to drink alcoholic beverages on
the terrace of the convent, when the girl fell over the
1.5-metre balcony guardrail.
Police are for the moment viewing the case as an accident
and an autopsy will be performed in the coming days, perhaps as
early as Saturday.
