Italy placed fourth in a new study
measuring the amount of spam sent through the country.
SophosLabs's quarterly "Spampionship" ranked the top 12
spam-relaying countries in the world, based on pure volume of
spam messages sent.
It was the first time in more than a year that Italy placed
in the British company's ranking, having come no closer than
14th in the past year.
The latest review, covering the second quarter of this
year, gave the top prize once again to the United States for its
24.2% of spam volume, far overshadowing nearest competitors
France at 6.7% and China at 6.2%.
A second, per capita measure showed Bulgaria in first spot,
followed by Belarus, Switzerland, and Luxembourg; Italy ranked
10th.
