(ANSA) - Milan, October 13 - Save the Children on Tuesday
called for action to prevent 69 million children from dying of
hunger and disease before 2030.
The organisation made the call during its dedicated day at
Expo in Milan.
"We have worked to enable millions of children in the most
difficult parts of the world to survive, but much still needs to
be done," Save the Children Italy president Claudio Tesauro
said.
Each year 5.9 million children die from preventable causes
before their fifth birthday - in 45% of cases within one month
of birth.
In 50% of cases, death is due to malnutrition.
