(ANSA) - Milan, October 12 - An exhibition at the Israel
pavilion at Milan Expo titled "Women and their Olive Trees" is
on display through October 14 and features Jewish, Muslim,
Christian and Circassian women together in an "itinerant peace
project".
The 35 women involved in the project, sponsored by the
Women's International Zionist Organisation (WIZO) in
collaboration with the Italy-Israel Association of Milan,
created art representing olive trees as a vehicle of their
religions and cultures.
The exhibition was curated by art teacher Sheila Dvore
Casdi and is part of a larger initiative by the WIZO community
centre in Afula, Israel, called the Olive Tree Project.
"We enthusiastically welcomed this initiative that the
European WIZO federations have transformed into a traveling show
that will take in nine European countries," said Ester Silvana
Israel, president of WIZO Italia.
After Expo, the show will travel to Rome before departing
for other destinations in Europe.
