(ANSA) - Milan, September 21 - Social agriculture is the
global model for the future of farming, Agriculture Minister
Maurizio Martina told a conference at the Expo Milan universal
exposition Monday.
A central theme at the meeting entitled "Social agriculture
and microcredit" was the government's social agriculture law
approved August 5, which aims to provide employment in
agriculture for disadvantaged people such as the handicapped and
those undergoing social rehabilitation.
Microcredit can be "very useful" in implementing the new
law, Martina said.
Also speaking at the conference was former Uruguayan
President Josè Mujica, who received a warm welcome from the
audience.
