(ANSA) - Milan, August 17 - Expo visitor numbers surged in
the week of the mid-August holiday of Ferragosto Saturday,
according to figures released Monday.
Some 738,992 visited the world's fair last week, according
to data published on the universal exposition's website.
The best day was Tuesday when 114,522 people came through
the turnstiles of the site at Rho north of Milan, a couple of
thousand more than Wednesday when there were 112,329 visitors.
On Ferragosto, when Expo celebrated a gelato fest, there
were 109,578 visitors.
The other days had fewer visitors but numbers were still
above the norm with 104,016 on Monday, 108,518 on Thursday,
95,130 on Friday and 94,899 on Sunday.
