(ANSA) - Milan, June 12 - US First Lady Michelle Obama will lead the US presidential delegation visiting Milan Expo 2015 on June 17 and 18, President Barack Obama announced on Friday.
The First Lady leads a campaign in the US called "Let's Move!", aimed at increasing public awareness of childhood obesity and promoting healthy eating and physical fitness among children.
"No matter where in the world we live, we all want healthy, nutritious food for our families," Michelle Obama said. "I'm thrilled for our delegation to have this opportunity to represent the United States at this important global event; to discuss shared values and best practices with other participating countries as we continue to strive to support a healthy America".
First Lady Obama will be accompanied on her visit by an eight-person delegation to include US Ambassador to Italy John R. Phillips; former NBA All-Star Alonzo H. Mourning, who serves as a member of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition; as well as celebrity chef Mario Batali, now co-host of TV show "The Chew".
