(ANSA) - Milan, May 25 - Ancient Roman emperors, senators, gladiators and dancers arrived Monday at the Rho-Pero-Expo train station on board a Frecciarossa train to inaugurate the state railway company's exhibition at Milan Expo 2015.
    Costumed figures enacted fights and dances as they paraded through the Expo's main artery, the Decumano, to kick off a show called 'MovEat Expo: the ways of food from ancient Rome to modern Europe'. The exhibit sponsored by Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) traces the central role played by Italy and its transport routes in the history of European food - from procurement to nutrition - through artifacts, images and maps going back to ancient Rome.
    Cups, vessels and other tableware on display span from the 8th century B.C. to the end of the Republican and Imperial ages of the Roman Empire. "FS is not just a ticket agency," said FS head Michele Elia.
    "We have also developed a course dedicated to food and its movement, to the routes where (food) travelled, which still exist today and are (now) rail".
    Elia added that Expo provided an occasion to improve a number of services, such as Wi-Fi on trains and in stations, starting from Milan.
    In addition, FS has launched a new app called Train to Discover Italy, which explains to travellers sights that can be seen from the windows of the train as they are moving.
