Retailers association Confcommercio
said Thursday that there was little faith about Italy being on
the path towards sustained growth after the economy pulled out
of the recession it slipped into in the second half of last
year.
"Technically the recession has been overcome but our growth
levels are so small that we are within the margin of statistical
error," said Mariano Bella, the head of Confcommercio's study
unit, as he presented the Outlook Italia 2019 report prepared
with market-research agency Censis.
"Not many people believe in the recovery.
"There is a clear sensation of doubt and fear.
"The country does not have the necessary drive from the
public, for example with the propensity to consume, to transform
stagnation into something better".
