Italy'a anti-corruption body ANAC
on Thursday approved the appointment of former European Affairs
Minister Paolo Savona as new head of bourse regulator CONSOB.
He is not incompatible, ANAC said, because of his former
position as director of the Fondo Euklid investment fund.
Euklid never invested in Italy and is thus not subject to
CONSOB's vigilance, it said.
If it were to invest in Italy Savona, who still has shares in
it, could abstain, ANAC said.
Savona, a respected Euroskeptic economist, was tapped for the
CONSOB post last month.
