A deal has been forged with milk
farmers at price per litre of 74 cents, not far from the
farmers' initial demand of one euro, sources said Friday.
There have been weeks of protests by the Sardinian farmers
who have repeatedly spilled cargoes of milk onto roads and
streets across the island.
The deal foresees a possible price rise in November on the
basis of the market price of pecorino romano cheese, the parties
said.
The talks involved the farmers, the dairy firms and regional
and government officials.
