Giovanni Castellucci, the CEO of
Autostrade per l'Italia (ASPI), is set to propose to the highway
company's board making a legal challenge against the
government's decree for Genoa following August's
Morandi-bride-collapse disaster, sources said Thursday,
confirming media reports.
However, Castellucci will say that the company should not
request that work to demolish the remains of the Morandi bridge
and built a new viaduct be suspected.
This is to avoid "blocking the reconstruction of Genoa in any
way", the sources said.
The government has said ASPI, which held the concession for
the Morandi bridge, must not be involved in the demolition or
the construction of the new viaduct, blaming it for failing to
prevent the disaster than claimed 43 lives.
