Italy and France plan on
informing the European Commission of the postponement in
publishing the tenders for the Turin-Lyon TAV high-speed rail
line, according to a letter in which transport ministers Danilo
Toninelli and Elisabeth Borne ask TAV company TELT not to
execute the tenders "before the end of 2018", a copy obtained by
ANSA said.
The letter also said "if necessary we will take into
consideration a new schedule that will allow the maintenance of
the earmarking of the funding".
Italy said Wednesday it would come to a decision on
completing the TAV before the May European elections, having put
it on hold for a cost/benefit analysis that should be completed
by the end of the year.
