Finance police in Taranto on
Tuesday executed an order to seize several sites managed by ILVA
to the north of its steelworks in the southern city that were
allegedly turned into dumps for dangerous waste, sources said.
A total surface area of around 530,000 square metres was put
under sequester and nine people are under investigation for
allegedly causing an "environmental disaster".
The investigation uncovered over five million tonnes of
dangerous and non-dangerous industrial waste, the sources said.
