The Italian manufacturing
purchasing managers index (PMI) compiled by Markit/Adaci climbed
to 56.3 points in August from 55.1 in July, the highest level
since February 2011, Bloomberg reported Friday. The index for
August 2016 was 49.8 points, but the sector looks much healthier
after 12 consecutive months of growth. Analysts had expected a
smaller increase, that would have taken the PMI up to 55.3
points.
