Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) railway
group posted a record profit of 772 million euros in 2016, 66.4%
up on the previous year, CEO Renato Mazzoncini said Friday.
"We are very satisfied", Mazzoncini said as the groups said
it would pay out a dividend of 300 million euros. Last week the
government gave the green light to FS merging with motorway
construction and maintenance company ANAS to rev up business
while remaining two autonomous units.
