The Milan bourse closed 0.2% down
Monday with the bellwether FTSE-MIB index falling to 17,049
points.
The index had been further down earlier as bank stocks slid
after Premier Matteo Renzi announced his resignation following a
heavy defeat in a Constitutional reform referendum Sunday.
European stocks appeared immune to referendum fall-out as
London rose 0.2%, Frankfurt 1.6% and Paris 1%.
