Italy's anti-trust authority has
opened two probes into WhatsApp Inc for suspected violations of
the Consumers Code, the authority said Friday. The first aims to
establish whether the US company forced users to wholly accept
new contract terms and especially sharing their data with
Facebook. Users were allegedly forced to comply by the implicit
threat of no longer being able to use the app, the authority
said. The other probe aims to establish if some clauses were
vexatious. The clauses include those on ending contracts and the
limitation of available forums to US courts.
