Silvio Berlusconi's
publishing group Mondadori said Thursday that it has reached an
agreement to sell its Bompiani subsidiary to Giunti Editore for
16.5 million euros.
The deal is being done to meet Antitrust requirements
after Mondadori recently bought RCS Libri, Bompiani's previous
parent company.
Nevertheless, the Bompiani deal is also subject to
approval from the national competition regulator.
Bompiani is a historic publishing house founded by Italian
writer Valentino Bompiani in 1929.
It has published works by many top authors, including
Alberto Moravia and Umberto Eco.
