The highest employment levels
of Italian graduates in 2015 were found among those who had
postgraduate qualifications in defence and security, medicine
and engineering, national statistics office ISTAT said on
Thursday.
The rate of employment was 99.4% for those with
postgraduate education in defence and security subjects, 96.5%
for the same level achieved in medicine and 93.9% for an
equivalent engineering qualification
ISTAT said entry to the world of work was harder for
literature graduates, with 61.7% of those with first level
degrees and 73.4% of those with postgraduate qualifications
finding employment.
The statistics office also said that more than half of
graduates are still working on short-term contracts four years
after completing their first degree, while those with further
education had more success at securing stable, long-term
contracts.
