The government and unions have
done some "good work" on pensions but "it is not over yet," the
leader of Italy's biggest and most leftwing union CGIL, Susanna
Camusso, said after talks with the government Wednesday. She
hailed, as one example, the distinction that was made between
physically demanding and non-physically demanding jobs and the
decision to ease retirement for the former. The government and
the trade unions signed a draft deal on early retirement, a
summer bonus for those on the lowest pensions, and other
measures over the next three years.
