Diego Della Valle, the CEO of
Italian leather goods company Tod's, said Thursday he's not
giving up on a takeover bid on RCS media company, of which he is
the second-largest shareholder.
RCS is the publisher of top Italian newspapers Corriere
della Sera and La Gazzetta dello Sport, among others.
"I'm not giving up," he said. "There's nothing personal in
this operation, but...CONSOB (stock market watchdog) fell
seriously short. Its silence has favored one of the sides".
Della Valle is among RCS investors that bid on the
publisher via vehicle company International Media Holding (IMH),
which earlier in July petitioned CONSOB to halt a rival bid by
Cairo Communication and was turned down.
IMH on Thursday appealed the CONSOB decision not to
intervene to the Lazio Administrative Court (TAR).
Milan prosecutors have opened a probe into Cairo
Communication's takeover bid for RCS, ANSA sources said earlier
in July.
