Italian industrial production
dropped 1.1% in June with respect to May and 0.3% compared to
the same month in 2014, Istat said on Wednesday.
But the national statistics agency added that production
for the first six months of 2015 as a whole was up 0.4% on the
same period last year.
The first-half rise was spearheaded by a huge increase in
automotive industrial production, which was up 44.2%, the
biggest rise for this period since 1990.
The drop in June's industrial production followed May's big
increases of 0.9% on the previous month and 3.1% on the same
time last year and was in part attributable to many people
taking an extra day off before the June 2 bank holiday.
