The European Commission said Wednesday that it has referred Italy to the EU Court of Justice (EUCJ) for failing to comply with an order to recover State aid it granted to the SEA Handling company.
In 2012 the Commission told Italy to recover around 360 million euros of aid granted between 2002 and 2010 by SEA, the Italian State-owned operator of the Milan airports, to its subsidiary SEA Handling. "Italy had four months from the decision to implement the decision," read an EC statement announcing the referral.
"However, to this date, according to the information at the Commission's disposal, SEA Handling has not repaid any of the aid it received".
