A 23-year-old Italian man who was
left in a coma after being hit with a hammer by his father who
killed his mother and sister earlier this month is now conscious
and able to communicate with gestures, his family's lawyer told
ANSA Tuesday.
Nicolò Maja was bludgeoned after his father Alessandro killed
his mother Stefania and his 16-year-old sister Giulia before
setting fire to himself in a bid to commit suicide in the
family's home in Samarate, in the northern province of Varese,
on May 4.
"Nicolò is markedly improved and really seems to be able to
answer questions, if only with gestures," said attorney Stefano
Bettinelli.
"It's great news...although his recovery will be very, very
long".
