German insurance giant Allianz,
one of the shareholders of Italian motorway firm Autostrade per
l'Italia (ASPI), on Thursday filed a suit with the European
Commission against a unilateral modification of motorway
concession contracts introduced by the Italian government with
the Milleproroghe decree, which paves the way for the possible
revocation of the concession.
The government is discussing stripping ASPI's concession
after the August 2018 Genoa bridge collapse that killed 43
people, allegedly due to poor maintenance.
Transport Minister Paola De Micheli said Thursday she had
filed a final report on the case but the government had yet to
decide on the revocation.
