INPS said Thursday that 7,424,293 people were hired by private-sector employers in 2018, compared to 6,993,047 job contracts that were terminated for a net gain of 431,246 posts, down 7,4% on the net rise of 465,587 in 2017. The pensions and social security agency said there was a net rise of 200,450 steady, open-ended contracts, while the number of temporary contracts went up by 52,008.
The agency said unemployment claims amounted to 2,045,362 last year, up 5.8% on the 1,933,917 made in 2017.
