A man who shot and killed a
burglar who had broke into his home and tied and gagged him 10
years ago was acquitted on appeal for acting in legitimate
self-defence on Thursday.
At the first-instance trial the man got two years and eight
months in jail for culpable homicide.
The acquittal comes as new and looser self-defence norms
adopting a broader 'stand your ground' stance are moving through
parliament.
