1,500 evacuated after pepper spray let off in school

Near Genoa

(ANSA) - Genoa, October 16 - Some 1,500 teachers and students at an elementary school near Genoa were evacuated after someone let off pepper spray on the second floor of the building on Tuesday, local sources said.
Everyone inside the Parentucelli Arzelà school at Sarzana was told to leave the building after a dozen or so youngsters complained of irritation to their respiratory tracts, the sources said.
The students who breathed in the spray were treated by medical staff while firemen cleared the school and made sure all traces of the spray had dispersed.
The students were then accompanied back in to get their bags and personal effects.
