Minister Matteo Salvini said on Facebook Thursday "Moscovici
says the problems for Europe are Salvini, Le Pen and Orban. A
French Socialist who comes to lecture us makes you laugh."
The anti-migrant Euroskeptic League leader said "Evidently if
Europe is disgusted by those bureaucrats who impoverished a
whole continent and has faith in us, the problem is for those
who misgoverned for years".
Moscovici said earlier that Europe's existence was threatened
for the first time in its history.
"It can implode or be subverted by far right leaders like
Matteo Salvini, Marine Le Pen and Viktor Orban".
Italian populist leaders Luigi Di Maio and his partner
Salvini are "children of inequality" but that "does not justify
their excesses", the commissioner said.
