A year-old boy from Palazzago near Bergamo died of meningitis at Bergamo's Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital Friday morning, Lombardy Welfare Councillor Giulio Gallera said. Gallera said "I am close to the pain of the family of the baby that died of meningitis this morning, of which we are awaiting the analysis of the strain. The boy arrived at the paediatric anaesthetics unit in critical condition last night and was treated with antibiotics but sadly did not make it."
