Ex-premier and centre-left
Democratic Party (PD) leader Matteo Renzi said Friday "everyone"
in the PD agreed on the need to build coalitions ahead of next
year's general election. "We're all agreed, and that's a
novelty", he said when asked about Justice Minister Andrea
Orlando's call for "concrete acts" to build alliances. He said
he had "heard from" Orlando. The PD recently fared poorly in
Sicilian elections in an alliance with centrist AP party, its
junior partner in government. It is looking to build alliances
to the left but the MDP splinter group is adamant Renzi must go
before an alliance can be forged.
