(ANSAmed) - Salerno, October 19 - The Giffoni Experience children's film festival is aiming over the next three years to promote film as a tool for knowledge, learning, and personal development, with a programme for students and teachers agreed upon in a memorandum of understanding signed on July 21 with the Italian Education Ministry.
While awaiting the official programme of activities for the 2018/2019 plan, festival organisers in coming months will hold "Movie Days", a series of film days in schools that began in 1994 and has since involved more than 470,000 students and 85,000 teachers across 10 regions and 20 provinces.
This year's Movie Days programme includes more than 60 seminars, 18 films, and eight modules designed for various ages, as well as 60 chances to participate in the Giffoni Film Festival jury.
Now in its 23rd edition, Movie Days also goes beyond the borders of the Cittadella del Cinema theatre in the town of Giffoni Valle Piana with its "Movie Days on Tour".
On Thursday, December 7, Giffoni Experience staff will be in Pagani at the S. Alfonso Maria De' Liguori auditorium to present the programme of activities for the area.
Movie Days on Tour will also continue in its previous collaboration with Sardinia: starting in November and for the entire school year, it will host three events per month in Nuoro and the surrounding province.
In Giffoni Valle Piana, meanwhile, the Sala Truffaut theatre will host a programme full of important topics such as bullying, diversity, ecology, environment, and lawfulness. The seminars will be enriched by the presence of journalists and psychologists, without forgetting important social partners such as the Telefono Azzurro child abuse hotline and Legambiente environmental group.
As always, the heart of Movie Days will focus on a selection of the most interesting works presented in prior editions of the festival.
"With Movie Days, young people find a space to view unique films, talk about them, meet exceptional guests of honour, and discover the secrets of cinema thanks to interactive lessons," said Giffoni Experience Director Claudio Gubitosi. (ANSAmed).
