Anti-immigrant, anti-euro Northern
League deputy secretary Giancarlo Giorgetti said Friday that
Union for a Europe of Nations MEP Nello Musumeci, a rightist,
would be their candidate for November elections in Sicily. He
said leader Matteo Salvini was folowing the issue "directly" and
that Musumeci was the only candidate taken into consideration,
the only man "able to clean up, relaunch and give a better
future to Sicily". Giorgetti's announcement came after the NCS
group had asked Musumeci to withdraw his candidacy.
