The Swiss Guard is ready
to face any terror threat, its head said at a recent gathering
in Switzerland. "Perhaps it is only a question of time before an
attack of this kind happens in Rome, but we're ready for this
too," said Commander Christoph Graf, according to Swiss Catholic
website Cath.ch. So-called Islamic State (ISIS) has threatened
to attack Rome and the Vatican on several occasions. Italy has
so far been spared the kind of terror attacks that have hit
France, Britain, Germany and Spain recently. The Swiss Guard is
the elite force that protects Pope Francis.
