Pope Francis sent a telegramme to Archbishop of Westminster Vincent Nichols Thursday saying he was "deeply pained for the loss of life and injuries caused by the attack in the centre of London" and expressing his "prayerful solidarity with all those who have been struck by this tragedy". Francis said "commending the dead to the mercy of almighty God, I invoke divine fortitude and peace for the stricken families and assure the nation of my prayers in this occasion." Two Italian women were among the 40 injured in Wednesday's terror attack in London, sources said Thursday - a Roman still in hospital and a Bolognese who was immediately discharged. The latter was said to be a 28-year-old in London for the last six years who was knocked over by the fleeing crowd and suffered mild bruises. Neither have been named, for privacy reasons. Two civilians and a policemen were killed in the attack.
