Sicilian prosecutors have
wrapped up their probe into irregularities on a 100-million-euro
contract for the migrant reception centre (CARA) at Mineo near
Catania and are set to charge several people, judicial sources
said Friday.
The case if one of many stemming from the sprawling Capital
Mafia case in which a group of criminals, businessmen and
politicians muscled in on Rome city contracts.
Among those set to be charged is Farm Undersecretary
Giuseppe Castiglione, a leading member of the small New Centre
Right (NCD) party in Sicily.
"After 18 months under investigation I'll now be able to
explain everything," he said.
