Italy's Navy has integrated
women officers, including on submarines, Navy Chief of Staff
Valter Girardelli told a parliamentary defense commission
hearing Wednesday.
"Women today can go anywhere in the Navy, except in special
forces," the admiral said.
"We have women submarine officers - no discrimination".
"They're better than the men," he added.
Female personnel makes up about 4% of the 39,000-strong
Navy, Girardelli said.
