Rare diamonds, antique and contemporary jewelry, Burmese stones and an entire catalogue of pocket watches are among the prized pieces to be auctioned by Bolaffi on September 27 at the Grand Hotel et de Milan in Italy's financial capital.
The auction includes some 500 pieces with exclusive and competitive prices.
"Auction sales offer a unique opportunity - not only the pleasure of conquering a precious object but also the unrepeatable charm of its history", explained Maria Carla Manenti, a jewelry expert at the Bolaffi auction house.
Among the top pieces to go on auction is a fascinating natural 'very light pink' diamond which has been estimated to be worth 180,000 euros.
"Colored diamonds, called 'fancy', are one in 10,000 in nature", added Manenti.
"We are therefore very proud to offer such a rare and seducing diamond".
A pear-shaped diamond of 6.39 carats to be auctioned with a starting price of 120,000 euros is of extreme purity (VVS1).
A white gold ring with an old European-cut diamond of over 17 carats has a starting price of 80,000 euros.
Another prestigious piece is a ring with a Burmese ruby (five carats) surrounded by diamonds, which will be auctioned with a starting price of 50,000 euros, and a ring with an untreated sapphire of 11,20 carats for 20,000 euros.
A set of gold filigree jewelry with Mediterranean coral cameos dates back to the early 1800s and was probably a wedding present for the bride, preserved in its original box. "There are iconic pieces among contemporary jewels like the limited-edition watch-bracelet Panthe're by Cartier", continued the Bolaffi expert.
It will be auctioned with a starting price of 11,000 euros.
A necklace with three strings of natural pearls and diamond pendant earrings are among the most important pieces in the section dedicated to the 1920s and 1930s.
The appointment on September 27 marks the debut of the department dedicated to pocket watches, a novelty for Bolaffi, with an entire collection of pocket watches from the 1700s and 1800s.
"They are extremely rare and precious pieces", concluded Manenti.
They are the unique collection, which remained in a safe for decades, of a passionate collector, a Piedmont entrepreneur of Jewish descent.
During his business travels, after the war, he discovered the pieces in the most famous antique stores in London, Paris and Geneva: the result is a selection of pocket watches that will be a pleasant discovery also for contemporary experts.
