The ground sank by 20 cm at the village of Accumoli when Wednesday's 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit, according to the first satellite images of the faultline released by the National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology, the National research Council and the civil protection department. The quake's epicentre was close to Accumoli, a Lazio village where 11 people died. Another 49 were killed in the Marche town of Arquata del Tronto, and 207 in the Lazio town of Amatrice.
