A young American tourist slept
on the roof of Milan cathedral on the night between Monday and
Tuesday after getting locked in, Corriere della Sera and Il
Giorno reported Wednesday.
The 23-year-old reportedly said he was in the toilet when
security guards inspected the inside of the Duomo before locking
it up.
"I got locked in but I didn't want to create an alarm, so
I spent the night here," the art enthusiast reportedly said
after being found inside the building the following morning.
Nevertheless, the incident has highlighted that the
monument's security needs to be improved.
