Vincenzo 'The Shark' Nibali won the Giro d'Italia for the second time Sunday after storming back into form on the last two mountain stages.
"It's a unique emotion," said the Sicilian, who also won in 2013.
He said he was now looking forward to the Rio Olympics.
Premier Matteo Renzi hailed Nibali's storming late surge after a poor start to win the Giro.
There is "amazement for the extraordinary exploit of a very
great Vincenzo Nibali who won the Giro d'Italia with a finale
that seemed impossible," the premier said.
"Never give up, never: that is the lesson of The Shark," he
said.
