Italian marine Massimiliano Latorre
wished for the prompt return from India of fellow marine
Salvatore Girone on his birthday Wednesday.
"Today is a partial feast for me," Girone wrote on
Facebook.
Latorre and Girone have been held by India for four years
without charge in connection with the shooting deaths of two
Indian fishermen during an anti-piracy mission in 2012.
Latorre has been on medical leave in Italy for the past two
years, but Girone is still in India.
An international arbitration court in The Hague on April 29
ruled that India should let the marine return home pending
resolution of the case.
The foreign ministry said Monday that Italy has presented a
petition to the Indian supreme court calling on it to speedily
implement that ruling.
An Indian court hearing may decide tomorrow to let Girone
return to his homeland earlier than expected.
