Reform Minister Maria Elena Boschi on
Wednesday said an October referendum on a Constitutional reform
to Italy's costly and unwieldy political machinery was about
"the future of the country".
Boschi, who has given her name to the reform that replaces
the Senate with a smaller, regionally elected body, said that
the revamp would set up "a State that works better and responds
within a sure timeframe", given that lawmaking will be cheaper
and faster.
Premier Matteo Renzi has staked his political future on a
yes vote in the referendum which he says is the flagship reform
of his government.
