European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will be in Rome "to build bridges", EU sources told ANSA Thursday. The EC chief will meet with Premier Matteo Renzi on Friday to discuss immigration, the economy, structural reforms, budget discipline, and "an ambitious investment program", the sources said. The agenda does not include any specific decision-making, they said. The timing of Juncker's mission is significant, given that it comes on the second anniversary of Renzi's administration.
The EC chief has always sought to build consensus during his 35-year political career, the sources said.
